“It was too little”

Markus Krösche, Oliver Glasner and Djibril Sow blast the performance after the 1-0 defeat to Wolfsburg.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “That was a needless defeat. We didn’t use our opportunities in the first half, but overall we didn’t have enough tempo in our attacking play. We were too static. Wolfsburg, on the other hand, defended well and resolutely. It was too little today. We need to improve.”

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “I’m very disappointed. That wasn’t what we can or want to produce. We were short in every department. We were slow, too ponderous, didn’t have enough punch and delivered awful attacking set pieces. We didn’t get in behind enough and had no cutting edge. We’ll therefore hold a mirror up to the team tomorrow and have some frank words. On Tuesday, the players who can play our power football for 90 minutes will play.”

Wolfsburg didn’t have to do much to take away the three points. We were too cumbersome in attack and then the confidence is lacking.

Djibril Sow

Djibril Sow: “Wolfsburg didn’t have to do much to take away the three points. We were too cumbersome in attack and then the confidence is lacking. If we take our first chance, we get into a flow. At the moment we’re losing games in both penalty boxes. We weren’t purposeful and determined enough. I have faith in the team but one thing is clear: there can’t be anymore performances like today. We need to go back over it self-critically.”
