“A second goal would have been decisive”

Eintracht’s players and staff lamented missed opportunities after the 1-1 draw with Köln, but are satisfied with their return of eight points from their opening four league matches.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “Looking at the 90 minutes, I feel we’re heading home with two dropped points. We were desperate to win, even though we knew it wouldn’t be easy. We played very well in the first half and didn’t give away a single chance. We should have doubled our lead in the second half, but we didn’t manage to do that. If Daichi Kamada had made it 2-0, it would have been decisive. We conceded at the other end straight afterwards – it was well played by Köln and the cross was superb. We failed to close the spaces quickly enough and Duda took full advantage. Ten points would obviously have been great going into the game in Munich, but eight points gives us a good start and we’re satisfied overall.”

You can see that we’re good footballers. I’m confident our understanding will improve.

Stefan Ilsanker: “It was tough towards the end after playing for our national teams, but that’s what we train and work hard for. I felt good for long periods. We didn’t give much away in the second half and had the better chances. We should have scored another goal.”

Amin Younes: “It was an open game after I came on and it could have gone either way. We had everything under control at first and could have scored the second goal. We feel a bit disappointed to have drawn the game. The main thing is that we travel to Munich with our unbeaten record intact. It’s going to be a different game against Bayern, who are the best team in the world. We need to play with the same intensity. I’ve only been here a few days, so we still need to get to know one another and grow accustomed to each others’ runs. You can see that we’re good footballers. I’m confident our understanding will improve.”
