“It shouldn’t happen to us”

Dino Toppmöller, Ansgar Knauff and Rasmus Kristensen saw positives and negatives in the 3-3 draw with Viktoria Plzeň.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We delivered a decent performance and got a result that feels strange. We went 3-1 up and had a chance to make it 4-1, but again we didn’t take it. Our opponents scored twice from two opportunities, which is frustrating. Overall, we can learn a lot from the game. We always have to stay alert and can’t afford to feel too comfortable with a two-goal lead. It’s not a good result.”

The prevailing emotion is disappointment.

Ansgar Knauff: “It’s obviously an annoying feeling. I think we did well for large parts of the game. We were unfortunate it was 1-1 at the break because we created plenty of chances. We started the second half well and scored twice after the substitutions. We scored three goals and had everything under control, really. What happened after our third goal wasn’t good. We need to analyse it. We can’t fall apart like that. We gave the ball away too easily, which shouldn’t happen to us.”

Rasmus Kristensen: “The prevailing emotion is disappointment. I was hoping my first goal would help us get the win. At the end of the day, giving away the three points after leading 3-1 with five minutes left isn’t good. We need to analyse how we can improve. I was struggling with a hip muscle issue during the week and had cramp at the end. That’s why I was brought off – so as not to risk picking up an injury.”
