On Wednesday evening US time, ‘The Return of the Cup’ (English title) was shown at the Kicking & Screening Soccer Film Festival at Scandinavia House in New York. There were over 100 submissions for the 11th edition of the internationally acclaimed, four-day film festival, but only five were selected to be presented to audiences. Eintracht were given the opportunity to screen the English version of the film, which has been seen by over 100,000 people in Germany, for the first time. Representing the club in New York were board member Axel Hellmann, general representative for North America Dr. Kai Römmelt plus the film directors Jan Martin Strasheim and Franziska Rappl.
Powerful resonance
The response from the predominantly American and German audience was overwhelming. The viewers were enthralled by the Eintracht fans, the power of the film and its style. Eintracht owe a special thanks to Tom Fraehmke, an Eagles fan living in New Jersey, who pointed the club to the Kicking & Screening Soccer Film Festival and was also in attendance on Wednesday.
Following the DFB Cup’s film debut in America, the Eintracht delegation are now heading to Austin, Texas, where staff at main sponsors Indeed as well as the local Eintracht fan club will get to see the movie.
