Contract Extensions

While SGE’s new signings have been dominating the news Eintracht has extended the contracts of three key players. Johannes Flum (until 2017), Marc Stendera (until 2020) and Alex Meier (until 2018) renewed their contracts with the Eagles.

Johannes Flum: Comeback After Severe Knee Injury

„All of us remember his severe knee injury back in November of last year when Johannes Flum broke his kneecap during a training session. Back then we already said that Johannes will have our full support. It is great to see that ‚Flumi‘ has fought his way back and that he will be able to help the team on the pitch next season“, said Sporting Director Bruno Hübner regarding Johannes Flums contract extension until June 2017: „In the past he has shown that he is an important part of the team.“

The 28-year-old had six appearances (two assists) last season before his injury. Johannes joined Eintracht in 2013 and has played for the Eagles in 54 games since then.

Marc Stendera: Contract Extended Until 2020

Marc Stendera on the other side is just at the beginning of his recovery process. After a cruciate ligament rupture during the second leg of the relegation play-off matches against Nürnberg, it will take some time until the 20-year-old Hesse born will be back with the team. Nonetheless Eintracht decided to extend his contract. Marc Stendera appreciates the faith put in him: „I am very happy about the contract extension and that Eintracht have faith in me at this difficult moment of my career. Especially after the ligament rupture it is a great sign and I am very excited to play for the Eagles throughout the next four years.“

Alex Meier: Forever Eintracht!

Eintracht’s top-scorer, Alex „the Great“ Meier, extended his contract with SGE until 30 June 2018. The 33-year-old, who has joined the Eagles in 2004 from Hamburger SV and who has since then scored 131 goals for SGE in 353 games, will stay with Eintracht beyond his career on the field. Eintracht and Meier agreed that Meier will take up an administrative function after his pro career at the club and that an official farewell match will be held after his final match for the Eagles.

Alex Meier: „Eintracht has become my home since I moved here in 2004. The city, the people of Frankfurt, the fans at the stadium – it is just great here and I am happy about the trust Eintracht has in me. I hope that I will be spared from injuries during the next two years so that I can help the team on the highest level possible.“
