Eintracht went on to win 2-1 against Bayern with goals from Weidle and Hölzenbein, "Der Bomber" got a late goal but to little effect. Charly Körbel went on to feature in 602 league games - all of them for the Eagles! This remains an all time Bundesliga record up to this very day.
Adding his 70 cup appearances and 42 in European competitions he appeared in 720 competitive matches for the Eagles. Nicknamed "Faithful Charly" he was part of the legendary team around Jürgen Grabowski, Bernd Hölzenbein and Bum-Kun Cha and later on team captain for many years.
In his career at Eintracht he achieved winning the DFB Cup four times and he also lifted the UEFA Cup in 1980 - the biggest success in the club's history. These days he is looking at the Eintracht School of Football and he is organizing the club's All Star Team.
