“Commitment, power and energy”

Dino Toppmöller on the upcoming game against Bayern, in which he wants to see his team put up a fight.

Eintracht welcome Bayern Munich to Deutsche Bank Park on Bundesliga Matchday 6 this Saturday (kick-off 18:30 CEST).

At his pre-match press conference, head coach Dino Toppmöller spoke about...

…personnel: “We’ve got everyone available except for Rasmus Kristensen. The game has come too soon for him.”

…Bayern: “It doesn’t make a lot of sense to just focus on one player. Bayern have got top-quality players in every position. [Joshua] Kimmich, [Michael] Olise, [Serge] Gnabry and [Luis] Díaz, for example, are all in fine form. We’ll have to defend against [Harry] Kane as a team and be smart in our positioning in the penalty area because he’s clever. They have a good game plan and the way they’ve dominated every opponent this season – including Chelsea – has been impressive.”

…Eintracht’s approach: “The respect we have for them needs to disappear at kick-off. We need to make them feel that they have to respect us. We know that we’re facing a team with incredible quality on Saturday. But it’s up to us to battle hard and to play well. If we do that, we’ll see what we get out of it at the end. I expect us to go into the game with the attitude of wanting to show everyone what we can do and to win this match. That’s what I want to see. It’s about commitment and power, and the energy that we want to generate in our stadium.”

I expect us to go into the game with the attitude of wanting to show everyone what we can do and to win this match.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller

…Nathaniel Brown: “He deserves his call-up to the national team, and not only for the way he’s played this term. Last season, especially in the second half of the campaign, he showed that he’s a really good player who’s very versatile in his positioning. That’s part of what makes him so valuable to us. He is very eager to learn and willing to improve, and he wants to put things into practice.”

…Nnamdi Collins: “He deserved his Germany call-up in September. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as planned – not just for him but for the whole team. He’ll grow from it and come back stronger.”

…Kaua Santos: “He’s developed in the three games he’s played since his long injury lay-off. We’ve conceded avoidable goals, but they weren’t his fault. He had a lot of good moments in Madrid, the way he used his body and put himself in the way. He’s also improved on the ball in every game and grown in confidence. We have to give him this time to grow and find his rhythm. We really believe in the lad. He’ll play on Saturday.”
