Chandler up and running again as Eintracht begin preparations for Leverkusen

On Tuesday, Eintracht Frankfurt began their preparations for the upcoming home fixture against Bayer Leverkusen, while Timothy Chandler ran a few laps of the training pitch for the first time since sustaining a knee injury.

Timothy Chandler was in high spirits as he returned to the training pitch on Tuesday for the first time since sustaining a severe knee injury. He first played about with Lukas Hradecky, before laughing and joking with Marco Russ and Omar Mascarell and subsequently jogging a few laps of the pitch. The right-back took part in gentle running exercises just a few metres away from the rest of his teammates, who were put through their paces in an intensive public training session on Tuesday afternoon.

Salcedo and Boateng both ill

Head coach Niko Kovac had 16 outfield players and three goalkeepers at his disposal for the 90-minute session at the city's Stadtwald training complex. The main focus of the exercises was playing with the ball in diverse formations. While Russ and Mascarell also had individual running sessions alongside Chandler, Carlos Salcedo and Kevin-Prince Boateng were both absent due to illness. Marius Wolf, Mijat Gacinovic, Andersson Ordonez and Yanni Regäsel all completed individual workouts in the gym.
