“Really excited about Bayern game”

Three days before third-placed Eintracht meet league leaders Bayern Munich, Kevin Trapp shares his thoughts on the Eagles squad, his future and the Germany national team.

…Saturday’s clash: “We’re really excited about the Bayern game. We have the chance to test ourselves against the current best team in Germany. Both ourselves and Bayern are having outstanding seasons. It’s a great time to play [in Munich].”

…Eintracht’s current squad: “In my eyes, it’s the most talented and strongest squad we’ve had for a long time. We have a number of highly talented youngsters who are developing brilliantly. The club has put a squad together that’s definitely capable of achieving a lot, but we know that performances can fluctuate when you’re a young team. I get the feeling that everyone wants to make the most of it and nobody wants to settle for what we’ve achieved so far. Everyone’s pulling their weight.”

…Mario Götze: “He was – and always has been – a key figure in the squad, the changing room and on the pitch. You can look up to him and he’s definitely a role model for some – just because of what he’s already achieved. It helps when you know someone like that is on the pitch with you.”

…his future: “I still have a year left on my contract and, if I’ve read the terms correctly, the option of another year. I’m feeling really good and really enjoying my football. I can envisage staying here longer, but I’m happy with the current situation. I haven’t spoken with anyone or thought about it, but I don’t need to yet. I want to continue being successful and keep improving – I’m really ambitious. The club is also developing really well.”

…the national team: “As long as I perform, I have nothing to criticise myself for. My main focus is on this club and our performances, because we can achieve a lot this year. We’ll see what happens with the national team after that.”
