Borré loaned to Bremen

The attacker has joined SV Werder Bremen on loan after two years with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Rafael Santos Borré has joined Eintracht’s Bundesliga rivals SV Werder Bremen on a season-long loan deal. Borré has been at Eintracht for two years, registering 15 goals and 12 assists in 92 appearances across all competitions.

The 27-year-old joined the Eagles on a free transfer from Argentinian outfit River Plate in summer 2021. The Colombian played a key role in the club’s UEFA Europa League triumph in 2022, scoring in both the quarter-final second-leg victory at Barcelona (3-2) and the semi-final second leg against West Ham United (1-1).

Borré’s display against Rangers in the Seville final, which Eintracht won 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, will live long in the memory. The forward scored the Eagles’ equaliser in normal time before netting their fifth spot-kick in the shootout to clinch victory. He also registered eight goals and six assists across 31 Bundesliga outings in 2021/22, as well as a further three goals and four assists in 47 competitive games last term.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “Rafael Borré was instrumental in our historic Europa League triumph in 2022. We’ll never forget his goals during that period. We appreciate that Rafa wants more playing time, which is why we wish him an enjoyable, injury-free spell with Bremen.”
