Salt was rubbed into Bayern's considerable wounds in the aftermath of the Real Madrid defeat, too: Jerome Boateng (thigh) and Arjen Robben (groin) both picked up injuries, ruling them out of this one. Long-term absentees Manuel Neuer (broken foot), Arturo Vidal (knee) and Kingsley Coman (ankle) also remain unavailable.
The Süle factor
Boateng's absence makes it almost certain that Niklas Süle will start in the Bayern defence. The 22-year-old was born in Frankfurt and came through the ranks at Eintracht.
Imposing home record
Despite the defeat to the European champions, Bayern remain overwhelming favourites ahead of welcoming the Eagles: the Bavarians had not lost in 21 home games this season prior to the Real reverse, while recent wins against Borussia Mönchengladbach (5-1) and Hannover (3-0) underline that Jupp Heynckes' troops are not taking their foot off the gas, even with the title secure.
Three to watch
Sandro Wagner: not your normal No2
Refreshingly honest and producing the performances to back his elevated level of self-confidence, Sandro Wagner has hit the ground running since returning to his hometown club from Hoffenheim in January. Indeed, although initially brought in to play a supporting role to Robert Lewandowski, the 30-year-old has forced Heynckes' hand by scoring seven goals in 11 outings.
Lars Lukas Mai: a new centre-back option
A complete unknown before the start of the season, Lukas Mai made his Bundesliga debut last weekend against Hannover, putting in an assured display. The Dresden native completed an impressive 90 passes, and – with Boateng out – might well be handed another chance to impress. That is certainly the hope in Munich, anyway: not since Thomas Müller and David Alaba have the Bavarians brought a player into the first team from their academy system.
Franck Ribery: a weight lifted
Expected to sign a new contract until 2019 in the Bavarian capital, Ribery's recent performances have reflected a man at ease with life. The 35-year-old was excellent against Real, and has never lost to Eintracht in 13 appearances – only Neuer and Rafinha can also boast double-figure unbeaten records against the Eagles.
