Without a win in 13 Bundesliga games against Bayern and having suffered eight consecutive defeats at the Allianz Arena, the Eagles are hoping to end their poor recent run against Germany's record champions on Saturday. With the sides set to meet again in three weeks in Berlin for the DFB Cup final, victory would be a timely boost – although given the Bavarians' recent form, taking three points will be a tough ask.
Oka's finest hour
Most Eintracht fans can likely recall the last time the club took anything from the Allianz Arena. The Eagles ground out a 0-0 draw in November 2007, in large part thanks to a sensational performance from goalkeeper Oka Nikolov. Bayern fired in 38 attempts on goal and sent 34 crosses into the penalty area – yet Nikolov saved all 14 shots that came his way. It remains a record number of saves for a keeper in a Bundesliga fixture to this day.
Boateng family reunion
Half-brothers Kevin-Prince and Jerome Boateng were due come up against each other for the sixth time in the Bundesliga, but after Jerome suffered a thigh injury during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid – ruling him out for the remainder of the season – the reunion will take place on the sidelines.
Boateng's likely replacement in the Bayern back four, Niklas Süle, also has Frankfurt connections: the Germany international was born in the city and played for the Eagles as a youngster.
