Eintracht Frankfurt and Bas Dost have decided to go their separate ways, with the Dutch forward moving with immediate effect to Belgian front-runners Club Brugge. The 31-year-old was originally under contract with Eintracht until 30 June 2022.
The Deventer-born attacker joined the club in summer 2019 from Sporting Lisbon, and went on to make 43 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 15 goals – 12 of them in the Bundesliga.
“The pandemic has presented us with a lot of economic challenges,” said Eintracht board member Fredi Bobic. “Club Brugge were very keen to sign Bas and it turned out to be a lucrative overall package for us. First and foremost, things have to make financial sense for us at the moment and we have to operate in the best interests of Eintracht Frankfurt, and we managed to do that by fulfilling the player’s wishes at the same time. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Bas all the best in Belgium.”
