Axel Hellmann and Oliver Frankenbach elected to DFL board

CEO Axel Hellmann is part of the nine-member DFL Executive Committee until 2025. In addition, CFO Oliver Frankenbach has been appointed to the Licensing Committee.

On Wednesday 17 August at the Annual General Meeting of the DFL e.V. (German Football League registered association) in Dortmund, the 36 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs decided on the composition of the DFL executive board for the next three years through to 2025.

A new member of the nine-person executive committee is Axel Hellmann, Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG CEO. “It is no secret that I'm a great fan of the intellectual capabilities of Axel Hellmann and also his assertiveness,” said Hans-Joachim Watzke, first deputy spokesperson of the executive committees of the DFL e.V. and chairperson of the DFL GmbH board of supervisors. “Everyone has their own individual experience and personal qualities, and I believe that Axel is a good addition to this executive committee.”

In other news, Eintracht’s board member for finance Oliver Frankenbach has been named as a member of the licensing procedure committee of the DFL e.V. This committee also includes chairperson Jan-Christian Dreesen and Christina Rühl-Hamers (FC Schalke 04), as well as Gerrit Floruss (1. FC Heidenheim 1846) and Dirk Weissert (SpVgg Greuther Fürth), who were added after a vote by the sectional assembly of Bundesliga 2.
