Switzerland could not have come closer to achieving their dream of reaching the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time. The Nati, featuring Steven Zuber and Djibril Sow, came from behind against Spain to level at 1-1, and showed great fighting spirit to take the match to penalties despite being a man down from the 77th minute onwards. They came up short in the shootout, though, losing 3-1. Zuber started and came off in stoppage time, while Sow was brought on in the 81st minute.
Eintracht’s EURO hopes now rest solely on Frederik Rönnow, whose Denmark team take on Czech Republic in Baku at 18:00 CEST on Saturday.
