Aurélio Buta signs with the Eagles

Aurélio Buta is joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Royal Antwerp, with the right-sided defender given a contract through to 2026.

Aurélio Buta will be joining Eintracht Frankfurt in time for the start of the 2022/23 season. The right-sided defender is out of contract with Royal Antwerp and is signing a deal with the Eagles that will keep him in Frankfurt until 30 June 2026.

Buta cut his teeth in Benfica’s youth system before moving to Belgium in 2017. He went on to prove himself on the domestic and international stages with Antwerp, making 128 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and setting up another 21 goals. The highlight of the stocky 1.72-metre defender’s career to date is winning the Belgian Cup in 2020.

“Aurélio Buta has the skill and experience to establish himself as one of the lynchpins of our team and give us that extra cutting edge,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “His goal involvement statistics speak for themselves. Aurélio has speed and physical strength, as well as being someone you can rely on at the back and who can create chances up front, making him an excellent all-round player – as we found out for ourselves when we played Benfica. He is also just 25 years old, so we believe that he’s got plenty of potential to further his development.”
