“Everyone has to take responsibility”

Head coach Adi Hütter made it clear that Eintracht won’t lie down without a fight against Bayern, but he also knows that everything has to come together in Munich.

Adi Hütter on...

…Bayern Munich: “For me, FC Bayern are currently the best team in the world. They have the fewest problems of all the top teams and they’re in great shape. We’re looking forward to the away game. Bayern are clear favourites. Despite everything I’m expecting us to pick up where we left off recently and to be bold.”

...his team’s approach: “I’m not sure that it helps to park the bus in front of your own goal. If we close off the flanks, they’ll play through the middle. If we have a high line, they’ll get around it. We need to be prepared for everything. They’re difficult to control over 90 minutes. It would be great if we defend everything and play well going forward, but for that to happen, we need something special and Bayern to have an off day. We need to show we’re in good form and unbeaten in a long time. We want to look for opportunities. There’s always something to lose. It’s about picking up points.”

...the personnel situation: “Amin Younes is on the right track but is not yet in contention for a place in the starting eleven. We’ll travel to Munich with 21 players, including David Abraham. He trained today but still doesn’t feel 100 per cent fit. David still has a problem with the back of his knee and is being treated by our doctor. We’ll see if he’s fit enough for tomorrow. Filip Kostic is getting back on his feet and is working very hard and very intensively. I prefer to wait a few days longer after a player’s injury before I put them in.”

...the formation: “We’re thinking about whether to play with three, four or five defenders. Everyone has to take responsibility to be in the right place at the right moment and defend the goal. Bayern are capable of ruthlessly exploiting mistakes.”
