Ansgar Knauff nominated for Golden Boy

One hundred candidates, including 22 from the Bundesliga and one Eagle, are vying for the title of Europe’s best under-21 player.

Ansgar Knauff's last six months can confidently be described as a meteoric rise. The talented youngster has produced outstanding performances since joining Eintracht on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany U21 international posted one goal and one assist in 12 appearances in the second half of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season, but it was particularly in the UEFA Europa League that he caught the eye. He didn’t miss a single minute of the knockout stages on the round to Seville, scored the opening goal in the first legs against both Barcelona and West Ham United, and as well as helping the team to the title, he was also named Young Player of the Season by UEFA.

Nomination

The attention the youngster has gained worldwide is now reflected in his nomination for the Golden Boy award, which has been given to the best under-21 player in Europe by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport every year since 2003. Knauff is one of 22 Bundesliga players on the 100-man shortlist.
