Dallas Cup group stages

The fixture list for the 43rd Dallas Cup has been drawn up, with the boys’ and girls’ youth squads now knowing their opponents. Here is a look at the group stages in detail.

The boys’ U14s and girls’ U17s are set for some exciting matches in their respective group stages. The boys, coached by Duarte Saloio, find themselves in a 32-team tournament, with eight groups of four, and will feature in Group C this time around. For the girls, there are two groups of four teams, with Eintracht’s U17s drawn in Group A.

Boys’ U14s

The young Eagles will get their campaign under way on Sunday 10 April against the E2PRODIGY Academy. The matches then come thick and fast, with the next one just 24 hours later when Eintracht take on the home team, FC Dallas, who have yet to win the U14 age group and will be going all out for victory at their own tournament this year.

The final group match will see the Eagles take on arguably their toughest opponents in the shape of the Orlando City Soccer School South U14s. This side is made up of members of the youth system of MLS side Orlando City, who currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference. The U14s play in the MLS Next youth league.

Girls’ U17s

The girls’ U17s kick their tournament off a day earlier, on Friday 9 April, when they take on Solar Soccer School.

They too will have no time for sightseeing, with their next match coming the following day, also against FC Dallas Youth, the tournament hosts being the only club to face Eintracht in both the boys’ and the girls’ competitions. This particular match will be a real highlight of the week for both sides as it will form part of the opening ceremony, held in the legendary 92,100-capacity Cotton Bowl Stadium.

Eintracht’s final opponents in the group stage on 11 April will be Sting Soccer Club’s Dallas Royal side, which also plays in the ECNL but in a different division from Solar Soccer School.

Tournament overview

The boys’ side of the tournament sees the group stages lead into the quarter-finals. As such, only the group winners will progress to the last eight. Should Eintracht manage to top their group, they will face the winners of Group F on 14 April. The semi-finals are then played on 15 April and the final – to be held in the Toyota Stadium – on 16 April.

For the girls on the other hand, the group stages lead directly to the semi-finals. With fewer teams involved, the top two sides from each group make it through to the last four. The final is scheduled for Friday 15 April and will kick off at 12:00 local time at the Toyota Stadium.
