Eintracht

All set for opener

Eintracht welcome FC Bayern Munich to Deutsche Bank Park on Friday evening as the 60th Bundesliga campaign gets under way.

Magdeburg, Munich, Madrid – three M’s for Eintracht Frankfurt at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Four days after reaching the second round of the DFB Cup with victory over 1. FC Magdeburg and five days before the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid, the Eagles kick off the 60th Bundesliga season against FC Bayern Munich at Deutsche Bank Park on 5 August (20:30 CEST). All eyes will be on Frankfurt on Friday evening as the 2021/22 Europa League winners take on the reigning German champions, in a match broadcast in over 200 countries.

Daichi Kamada scored the opener against Magdeburg.

The mood in the Eintracht camp couldn’t be better ahead of the season opener – particularly after the cup win at recently promoted second-tier side Magdeburg, which has given the Eagles added momentum. Confidence is high at Bayern too, however, following Saturday’s 5-3 victory over RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup.

Neck and neck of late

If the stats are anything to go by, the Eagles have no reason to fear the Bavarians on Friday. No team has beaten Eintracht more often in the city forest than Bayern, but the record Bundesliga champions have also suffered more defeats in Frankfurt than against any other professional outfit away from home.
