Ali Akman arrived in Frankfurt last week and has now completed the mandatory quarantine period. On Monday he signed a deal valid with immediate effect through to 2025. The reason for the early move is the termination of Akman's contract with his former club Bursaspor.
Eintracht had already secured the signing of the talented forward from the Turkish second division side on 1 February on a free transfer, but it was originally planned to come into effect on 1 July.
Following the obligatory quarantine and subsequent series of COVID-19 tests, Akman will be begin conditioning training and will then be gradually integrated into first-team training. Regulations stipulate that he will still be eligible to play from the 2021/22 season onwards.
Nevertheless, head coach Adi Hütter described it as a “win-win situation, because Ali can get to know his new teammates and our style of play earlier than planned, and we can get to know him too. That can only be an advantage for the integration and development of a young player in a new environment.”
