SGE Express medical mission
Eintracht Frankfurt’s airline partner SunExpress has helped thousands of tourists with their return journey to Germany in recent weeks, with repatriation flights spanning Egypt, Serbia, Senegal, Spain, Kosovo and Albania. As well as the rescue flights, the commissioning of the new ‘SGE Express’ – a Boeing 737 with a special Eintracht design taking over from the aircraft that brought the DFB Cup winners back to Frankfurt from Berlin in 2018 – has proved particularly popular. During March and April, over 2,300 passengers were transported home on the SGE Express as part of the rescue flights. The Eintracht aeroplane also undertook an extra medical flight which helped to deliver 1.5 million tonnes of medical equipment to Spain, and in yet another mission, the SunExpress went to Cluj no fewer than six times to transport harvest workers from Romania to Germany. The flights ensured that normal service has been maintained as much as possible on the ground at least, with the company making its own contribution to efforts in the Rhine-Main region and beyond.
