“Aim is to get six more points”

The Eagles weren’t entirely satisfied in light of their second-half performance, as expectations remain high until the end.

Adi Hütter thanks his players after the game.

Timothy Chandler: “We played brilliantly for 60, 65 minutes and could have led by more as we had good chances. After Schalke’s red card, it didn’t go as well for us, not as well in Berlin. We could’ve played it around better and created even more chances. We defended well at the end and we’re happy to take the three points. Six more points is the aim now.”

Martin Hinteregger: “We were commanding until Schalke scored, we were focused. Then we awoke Schalke by not defending a set piece well, which gave the opposition confidence. Our only aim now can be to get six more points. We have a chance to qualify for Europe, which is great. We’ll try to do our job and hope that the others drop points.”

Stefan Ilsanker: “The mood in the dressing room is quite strange despite the 2-1 win. We weren’t as assured after the break, we invited Schalke through some lapses in concentration, missed some chances to put the game to bed and couldn’t get settled again even against 10 men. That’s why the mood isn’t so good, because we didn’t live up to the expectations we have of ourselves. But we got the three points and have moved above Schalke, so we should be happy. Now we’re just concentrating, as ever, on the next game which we want to win. We’re playing good football and have got into good form in the last five games, which we’d like to continue.”
