Aigner Transfer – Test Match – Record – Arsenal

Eintracht have signed a player from 1860 München, played a test match and remain record holders. Read the latest news.

Stefan Aigner Joins

Eintracht confirmed the signing of Stefan Aigner who will join in July 2012 from 1860 München. The 24 year old offensive midfielder has agreed to a three year contract valid in both Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. He has recorded 118 Bundesliga 2 matches so far (26 goals) for Wacker Burghausen and 1860. In the past two seasons he has managed to become a regular starter and in the running campaign he is on 24 appearances (9 goals) so far.

Eintracht Sporting Director Bruno Hübner was pleased about the deal: “At only 24 Stefan has developed into a key player at 1860 but he still has a lot of potential. As a young German talent with ambitions he is a perfect fit for us.”

6-1 Test Match Win

The Eagles won a test match against local team TSG Neu-Isenburg 6-1. Manager Armin Veh used the game mostly to let bench players gain match practice. Friend, Hoffer (2), Caio, Matmour and Bellaid scored for Eintracht, the hosts got their goal from a penalty of Peters.

Eintracht players used: Kessler - Korkmaz, Amedick (33‘ Hoffer), Bellaid, Butscher - Lehmann, Abu - Matmour, Caio, Kittel - Friend.

Record Stands

Borussia Mönchengladbach met Bayern München for the third time this season in the DFB Cup semi final on Wednesday night. After beating them twice in the league BMG could have leveled a record held by Eintracht with a third win against Bayern within a single season. They lost on penalties though which means that the Eagles remain the only team to beat München three times in a campaign.

1977/78 Eintracht met FCB three times within 15 days, twice in the UEFA Cup and once in the league. They beat them 4-0 at home, 2-1 away and 4-0 at home again. Club legends such as Bernd Hölzenbein (3 goals), Jürgen Grabowski and Rüdiger Wenzel (2 each) amongst others scored 10 goals against the likes of Sepp Maier and Franz Beckenbauer creating plenty of euphoria amongst the SGE supporters.

One of the Champions League semi finals 2011/12 will see Frankfurt meet Arsenal. You do not believe it? Well the ladies team of FFC Frankfurt won their quarter final against Malmö and progressed to the next stage in which they will meet Arsenal Ladies FC.
