Eagles checked over

Eintracht Frankfurt are kicking off pre-season with two-day performance tests. 25 first-team players are involved, four of them new recruits and three returning from loan spells.

A total of 25 members of the first-team squad met early on Monday morning in the ProfiCamp at Deutsche Bank Park to be put through their paces. 16 performance tests will be carried out on the Eintracht Frankfurt squad between now and Tuesday, including mobility, standing jump and diet as well as sight and hearing tests.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller was delighted to welcome his players, particularly new signings Aurèle Amenda, Nathaniel Brown, Krisztián Lisztes and Can Uzun, who got their first taste of the City Forest. Amenda is currently recovering from an injury to the tendon in his hamstring and was only subjected to some of the tests. Faride Alidou, Igor Matanovic and Jérôme Onguéné were also in attendance having returned from their loan clubs.

“We’ve got players here who didn’t go through pre-season with us last time around – Farès Chaibi and Niels Nkounkou for example,” the coach said. “It will be the first time that we get a decent time to train with some players over an extended period. Hugo Ekitiké is one who’ll have a different level of fitness level right from the off.”

First team training session on Wednesday

Wednesday will see the first team training session get under way at 11:30 CEST, broadcast live on EintrachtTV.

Defenders Robin Koch and Willian Pacho will not be required to attend, having been given some extra time off after playing in the quarter-finals of the European Championship and Copa América respectively with their countries.
