Hugo Ekitiké departs

After one and a half years in Frankfurt, the French striker is leaving to join Liverpool FC with immediate effect.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Liverpool Football Club have agreed terms over the transfer of Hugo Ekitiké. The striker initially joined the Hessian club on loan in February 2024, but the Eagles activated a purchase option in April that same year to make his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain FC permanent, handing him a contract until 2029.

After registering four goals and two assists in 16 appearances – including seven in the starting XI – during the second half of the 2023/24 season, the 23-year-old blossomed into a key player during the following campaign on the River Main. Ekitiké racked up 23 direct goal involvements in the Bundesliga, seven in the UEFA Europa League and four in the DFB Cup during the 2024/25 season, playing an integral role in the  club’s third-place top-flight finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League, not to mention their progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League. In his 18 months in Frankfurt, Ekitiké registered 26 goals and 14 assists in 64 competitive appearances, as well as establish himself in the French U21 squad. He has scored five goals in five U21 appearances since making his debut in September 2024.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “Hugo has improved tremendously in his 18 months with us and has been a real asset to our team and the club as a whole on and off the pitch. We’re delighted he can now take the next step – a step he has earned through his performances with us.”
