Sow heading to Seville

Swiss international leaving Eintracht Frankfurt after four years to join FC Sevilla.

Djibril Sow – who has been a lynchpin of the Eintracht Frankfurt central midfield over the past four years – is heading to Spain to join reigning Europa League champions FC Sevilla.

The 26-year-old moved to Frankfurt in summer 2019 from Swiss league-winners BSC Young Boys, with whom he had already won the title the previous year. A 38-time Swiss international who has represented his country at the Euros and the World Cup, Sow made a total of 160 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles, scoring eight goals and recording 13 assists. His contract with the club was originally set to run until 30 June 2024.

30 of those matches for Eintracht were in European competition, across the UEFA Champions League, the Europa League and the Super Cup. In last year’s maiden Champions League campaign for the club, Sow played every minute of every match. His greatest success in Frankfurt was of course the 2022 UEFA Europa League trophy.

“Over recent years, Djibril Sow has been an important player for Eintracht Frankfurt,” said Board Member for sport Markus Krösche. “He played a significant role in our success and always gave it his all for the club. After four years at Eintracht, we decided to agree to his request for a move a year before his contract was due to expire.“
