Makoto Hasebe was in the starting line-up in a sweeper position with Russ and Abraham in central defense; Tawatha and Chandler were left and right back. Fernandes started in midfield while up front Haller and Jovic were in attack together for the first time since joining.
Entertaining Match
Eintracht started with early chances of Jovic and Russ, and Sevilla also came forward with attempts of Navaez and Moron as Real Betis increased the pressure. Besuschkow came really close but was still off target from around 12 meters with a deflected shot. As Jovic hit the post after Haller had set him up in the box the 0-0 score line stood at the break.
Chandler Cracker
After a quiet start to the second half it was Timmy Chandler who hit home with a neat drop-kick from 20 meters distance (58'). Tawatha and Wolf had set him up - it was a beauty of a goal and the Eintracht supporters amongst the 3,120 crowd at the Brita Arena in Wiesbaden celebrated it lively. Marius Wolf connected with a through-ball of da Costa and added to the lead (69'), Aymen Barkok sorted out the final 3-0 score line with a cool finish from a Hrgota pass (73').
Deserved Win
Niko Kovac brought on eight players from the bench during the second half including Kamada and Willems. The Eagles showed a great performance against the La Liga team and took home a boost from this well-deserved win. On Sunday the season opening party will commence at Commerzbank Arena including another friendly against FSV Frankfurt.
