15-0 Test Match Win v TSG Messel

In their first pre-season friendly Eintracht won 15-0 against local club TSG Messel.

After the training officially started last week with medical tests and various sessions focusing on fitness it was the first occasion to see some familiar faces as well as recent signings in a match. Both Haris Seferovic (Switzerland) as well as Heinz Lindner (Austria) are still in their extended holidays - they participated at EURO 2016.

New Signings

Eagles coach Niko Kovac tried plenty of his players including the ones who recently arrived; Branimir Hrgota and Omar Mascarell were in the starting line-up, Danny Blum and Ante Rebic came on after the break. Various youngsters also got on-pitch action while Johannes Flum returned from his long-term injury.

Meier on Fire

Goalgetter Alex Meier returned in style by scoring four goals, Ante Rebic added three, Enis Bunjaki scored a brace. Blum and Hrgota also found the back of the net as well as Abraham, Fabian, Oczipka and Huszti. Goalkeeper Leon Bätge was in goal on his 19th birthday; while he played the full 90 minutes all outfield players were swapped at half time.

Quotes

Coach Niko Kovac: "Well done to the lads, we showed some good moves going forward, especially after the intense week of training. I also liked the efforts the new signings put in. We should not overrate this friendly though."

Forward Branimir Hrgota: "It was great to wear the Eintracht jersey for the first time. There's a good spirit in the team and we keep getting to know each other more and more. The training camp will be intense but we come prepared."
