0-0 Home Draw

Eintracht stay unbeaten at home this season after the goalless draw with SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The Eagles are on 39 points now and keep in touch with table leaders Düsseldorf (41 points).

Surprisingly Mo Idrissou returned to the starting line-up despite reports in the week about a serious injury. Eintracht manager Armin Veh also brought on goalkeeper Nikolov and defender Bamba Anderson who had been in doubt too. Thomas Kessler, Stefan Bell and Jimmy Hoffer were on the bench this time.

35,500 saw a decent start to the match with an early Fürth chance, Nikolov was at the end of a Schröck shot from deep angle. The Eagles also had some good scoring opportunities, the best one fell to Meier after a build up via Idrissou and Gekas but Meier's shot went wide.

Around 15 minutes into the match Fürth had a couple of big chances when first Prib chipped the ball over Nikolov but then hit the post instead of the open goal. Occean picked up the rebound and passed to Prib again who did score but was called offside. Shortly aftere Sararer went past various Eintracht defenders, his shot took a deflection of Nikolov and Djakpa cleared it off the line.

At the other end Fürth keeper Grün saved a Köhler volley and a Gekas header showing some good skill. Meier and Gekas both put headers wide ahead of the break in a lively first half.

It took a while until the second half got exciting. Köhler was involved twice, first with a long range volley shot which went wide, then when he received a Jung cross inside the box but was not able to get hold of the ball properly. Eintracht increased the pressure now though decent chances did not come along from it.

The match calmed down and Armin Veh brought on Ümit Korkmaz and Karim Matmour (for Rode and Gekas), later on also Hoffer for Idrissou who had a decent chance with a header five minutes before his substitution. Greuther had a couple of chances saved by Nikolov, first Occean's shot from the left, then Fürstner's long range cracker. Eintracht's Austrian connection Korkmaz and Hoffer played a one-two and Korkmaz had a go from around 18 meters but Fürth keeper Grün saved.

The Eagles remain unbeaten at home and keep in touch with top of the league Düsseldorf. Coming up is the last competitive match of the year away to St. Pauli next Monday (kick-off at 20.15h CET).
