Oliver Glasner's appointment as Eintracht Frankfurt head coach in summer 2021 marked the beginning of a new sporting chapter for the Salzburg-born tactician, who joined the Eagles from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg.

„Oliver Glasner proved at VfL Wolfsburg that he's capable of working at the very highest level and developing young players,“ Eintracht CEO Axel Hellmann said at the Austrian's unveiling. „We quickly realised that Oliver Glasner is an ideal fit for our team with his playing philosophy. We're confident he will carry on the success he had at Wolfsburg in Frankfurt.“

„Eintracht Frankfurt are an exciting club and have undergone a great development in recent years,“ Glasner himself told the assembled press. „The passion in the city and the region for Eintracht is magnificent.“

A family man and business graduate, Glasner spent the majority of his playing career at SV Ried in Upper Austria. He laced his boots for the club between 1992 and 2003, and again from 2004 to 2011, making 568 competitive appearances overall. In between, the nine-time Austria U21 international played three games for Linzer ASK during the 2003/04 campaign.

Glasner began his coaching career at Red Bull Salzburg, where he worked as Roger Schmidt's assistant in 2013/14, before guiding Ried to a sixth-place finish in his first head coaching role. He enjoyed great success at LASK between 2015 and 2019, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League for the first time as a coach and finishing runners-up in the Austrian top flight in his final season in charge - the club's best finish in over 50 years. After taking over at Wolfsburg in time for the 2019/20 campaign, Glasner guided the Wolves to seventh spot in his first season at the club before securing UEFA Champions League football with a fourth-place finish in 2020/21.

After finishing 11th in the Bundesliga in 2021/22, Glasner ended his first season at the helm in Frankfurt by securing one of the biggest triumphs in the club's history - victory in the Europa League final and automatic qualification for the Champions League.
