Eagles re-sign Sebastian Rode on permanent deal
Midfielder Sebastian Rode has returned to Eintracht Frankfurt, signing a five-year contract with the Eagles until 30 June 2024. “We all saw how important Sebastian is for us,” board member Fredi Bobic said of the 28-year-old, who spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Eintracht from Borussia Dortmund. “He improved our game significantly when he joined last January. He’s also a local lad, and we’ve always said we’ll try and bring players like that to the club. The fact that we’ve been able to do that shows we’re taking the next step in our development.”
Excellent progress
After joining the club on loan in January, Rode went on to make 20 appearances for Eintracht in the Bundesliga and UEFA Europa League. In the quarter-final second leg against SL Benfica, he scored the Eagles’ crucial second goal that sealed their place in the last four of the competition. He is currently working his way back to fitness after suffering a knee injury against Chelsea in the semi-finals, but the midfielder is making excellent progress.
