Eintracht’s number one: Kevin Trapp rejoins Eagles on permanent deal

Kevin Trapp, who spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan with the Eagles, joins the club from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent five-year contract that runs through to 30 June 2024.

“Kevin was an important pillar of our team last season and played a huge part in our successful campaign,” said Eintracht board member Fredi Bobic. “His charisma and influence are hugely important for the team and we’re very pleased to have secured a top goalkeeper and Germany international on a long-term deal.”

“I want to achieve a lot more”

Trapp, 29, made 45 appearances for Eintracht in the Bundesliga and UEFA Europa League last season, having previously made 96 competitive outings for the club between 2012 and 2015. He played 91 games in all competitions for French giants PSG, keeping 48 clean sheets in the process. The Saarland-born Germany international has also made three appearances for his country.

“I made it clear in the spring that I’m very happy in Frankfurt and at Eintracht,” said the goalkeeper, who could make his first appearance of the season in Sunday’s DFB Cup game at SV Waldhof Mannheim. “My time in Paris was very exciting and successful, and a great experience, but now I’m coming home for good and want to achieve a lot more with Eintracht.”

Trapp has been given the number one jersey for the coming season. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.
