Eintracht Frankfurt sign Dominik Kohr

Eintracht Frankfurt have another addition in their midfield, with Dominik Kohr joining the club for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old is making the move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2024. This makes three new players in the middle of the park for Eintracht, who have already acquired Djibril Sow and Rodrigo Zalazar this summer. Kohr is quick, solid, uncompromising and good in one-on-ones, making him ideally suited to occupy a key role in front of the defence. He is one of the most promising German players of his generation, picking up the Fritz Walter Bronze Medal in 2012 and 2013 and winning the Under-21 Euros in 2017.

“Kohr will improve our game”

Born in Trier, Kohr went through the Leverkusen youth system and in 2010 was an underage player in the Under-17 side that lost the final of the German championships 1-0 to Eintracht. He was not included in the squad for the final, unlike Danny da Costa, with whom he will now be linking up in Frankfurt nine years on.

Kohr made his Bundesliga debut on 21 April 2012 before going on to play for FC Augsburg from January 2014 to June 2017. After returning to Leverkusen he established himself as a first-team regular, making 32 appearances in all competitions in 2017/18. The son of former Bundesliga stalwart Harald Kohr (who played for 1. FC Kaiserslautern amongst others), the midfielder was also a regular fixture in the first half of last season but saw his playing time reduced after the winter break, meaning that he only appeared in 18 Bundesliga matches, five in the Europa League and two in the DFB Cup. In total, Kohr has 145 Bundesliga appearances to his name, 15 in Europe (13 in the Europa League and two in the Champions League) and 11 in the DFB Cup.

"Dominik Kohr really will improve our game,” said Eintracht board member Fredi Bobic. "One of the positive developments of recent years is that German players of this calibre are now signing for us. His style of play and his personality will be an ideal fit with this team."
