André Silva joins Eintracht from AC Milan
André Silva has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a two-year loan deal from Italian Serie A side AC Milan, with the 23-year-old forward penning a deal that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2021. The deadline-day transfer follows Ante Rebic's move in the opposite direction and gives the Eagles four senior strikers for the 2019/20 campaign. Silva is not a like-for-like replacement for Rebic, however, as board member Fredi Bobic explained: "Both Ante and André have tremendous qualities, but in different areas. André is an outright centre forward."
Reunion with Paciencia
Baguim do Monte native Silva came through the youth ranks at FC Porto, where he trained and played alongside Goncalo Paciencia. A technically adept attacker, Silva was initially schooled as a playmaker, but his natural scoring instincts eventually led to him becoming a striker, who at 1.84 m combines physicality with skill on the ball. "André is perfectly suited to our coach's philosophy," said Bobic.
After scoring 16 times in 32 league outings for Porto, Silva joined AC Milan in 2017 and notched 10 goals in 40 competitive games in his first year in Italy. He went on loan to FC Sevilla last season, netting 11 goals in 40 appearances for the club, and with stats like these, the new Eintracht No.33 will be certainly pushing for regular first-team opportunities in Frankfurt.
"Signing André Silva has seen us take the next step in terms of our transfers," said Bobic. "This wouldn't have been possible a few years ago. We're delighted to have him and are confident he'll be able to help us."
