Eintracht Women eased to a 3-0 victory over winless Duisburg on Wednesday afternoon. After missing several good opportunities to take the lead in the opening quarter of an hour, the Eagles took a deserved lead through Laura Feiersinger’s deflected header from Tanja Pawollek’s corner (20’).
Sjoeke Nüsken doubled Eintracht’s lead with her first goal of the season (35’), latching on to Feiersinger’s square pass after the Austrian midfielder had broken clear down the right wing. Nüsken then completed the scoring shortly before half-time with a carbon copy of her first goal.
The Eagles return to action on Easter Saturday (3 April, 13:00 CEST) when they host SC Freiburg for a place in the DFB Cup final. Their next league game is at home to SC Sand on Sunday 18 April (14:00 CEST), after the upcoming international break.
SGE head coach Niko Arnautis: “We can be very pleased with our first-half performance – we played really well and should have led by more [at half-time]. In the second half we didn’t play with as much pressure. For me, it’s important that we get the girls fit for Saturday and put up a good fight in the cup here at home. If we win that, we can walk through Frankfurt with big smiles on our faces.”
