Veh: No Breathers!

During the pre match press conference the media was able to get their questions across to Eintracht manager Armin Veh. The Eagles will play away to SC Paderborn on Sunday, kick-off is at 13.30h CET.

Mr Veh, how do you select the 18 players for the match out of 24 who are fully fit?
I still do not like it to tell players that they won’t be in the squad for a match. But I of course prefer it when all of them are fully fit.

Will Pirmin Schwegler be a possible starter?
He is fit and trained well and hard. I would have no concerns to make use of him.

How does it look for Mo Idrissou?
I believe he also could play the full 90 minutes.

Does that mean Jimmy Hoffer will be left out?
If the team performs as in recent weeks there is no need for changes. Jimmy played well and delivered good performances, although we thought it would be impossible to replace Mo. If I believe it might be better to put on two strikers up front then I will change the tactics.

What are the strengths of SC Paderborn?
They have a good striker which is important to compete at the table top. Also they are strong with set pieces and also with headers. Plus they have a good team spirit, you have to give credit to their manager whom I do not know that well but whom I value for that. They had a ball possession of 75% against Dynamo Dresden, that is quite an achievement. It is no coincidence that Paderborn are in the top five.

Which qualities will the Eagles need to bring into the match?
We will have to stand tight plus we will have to work hard and allow the opponent as little scoring opportunities as possible.

What do you make of the current standings?
Nothing has changed. The difference between the top ranked team and the fifth is still only three points. There is no time for breathers. It is getting narrow and you cannot afford too many slip-ups.
