First start and goal for Nüsken

Freigang and Nüsken were on the scoresheet in Germany’s win against Australia, while Switzerland are still hopeful of a EURO place.

Sjoeke Nüsken crowned her full debut for the German national team with her first goal. The 20-year-old scored in a friendly against Australia, as did Eagles teammate Laura Freigang. Goalkeeper Merle Frohms and defender Sophia Kleinherne also featured in the 5-2 win.

In the battle for the final Women’s EURO 2022 places, Switzerland drew 1-1 with Czech Republic in the first leg of their play-off. Sandrine Mauron was an unused substitute.

Barbara Dunst, Virginia Kirchberger and Laura Feiersinger all started for Austria as they drew 2-2 with Finland in a friendly on Sunday evening.

The only SGE international who suffered a defeat was Alexandra Johannsdottir, whose Iceland side lost 1-0 to Italy in a friendly.
