“Nothing is decided until the final whistle”

Oliver Glasner discusses Eintracht’s habit of scoring late goals and analyses their upcoming opponents.

Oliver Glasner on…

…his expectations against Union Berlin: “Union Berlin are versatile and, for me, the most physical team in the Bundesliga. They’re also dangerous from set pieces. We have great respect for them. I’m expecting a game with a lot of challenges. We want to win at home in the Bundesliga as soon as possible, preferably against Union. The last meeting ended in a 5-2 win for Eintracht, who had seven shots to their 25 – we’re well prepared. Of course I’d like us to control the game for 90 minutes, but Union will have something to say about that.”

...personnel: “The injury list is easing. Chris Lenz is back in team training but won’t be involved tomorrow. Martin Hinteregger trained with us today – we expect him to be involved against Union.”

Our opponents know by now that nothing is decided until the final whistle blows.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…Eintracht’s defensive options: “Our three centre-backs all had a very good game [against Antwerp]. Makoto Hasebe in particular put in another great performance. Tuta and Evan Ndicka are also doing very well. We’re obviously happy that Martin Hinteregger’s fit again too, and in Stefan Ilsanker we have a player who’s a good option because of his strong physical presence.”

…last-minute goals: “A lot of things come into play here: mentality, quality and fitness. It’s also important to believe in ourselves so that our heads don’t drop and we remain convinced that we can score a goal. Our recent successes help us in that regard. Our opponents know by now that nothing is decided until the final whistle blows.”

…Kevin Trapp: “Kevin hasn’t had an easy few months, but Kevin is a complete professional, very ambitious and always motivated in training. For me, it was only a matter of time before he returned to top form. He’s been back in outstanding shape for a few months now.”
