Eintracht were determined to exact revenge for losing to Sand in the first half of the season, and they did just that on Matchday 17, running out 4-0 winners at the Stadion am Brentanobad.
The Eagles lined up with the same side that recently overcame SC Freiburg in the DFB Cup semi-finals and immediately put their relegation-threatened visitors under pressure, dominating the game throughout the 90 minutes. Goals from Lara Prasnikar (8’) and Laura Freigang (23’) gave Eintracht a 2-0 lead at the break.
The away side improved in the second half, but Niko Arnautis’ charges remained the better team and put the result beyond all doubt when Freigang converted from the penalty spot in the 70th minute. Freigang, who was superb throughout, completed her hat-trick three minutes later (73’), taking her tally for the season to 15.
SGE’s hero Laura Freigang: “I think we played pretty well overall. I’m obviously proud to have helped the team with three goals. We haven’t seen each other for quite a long time because of the international break, but now we’re all back. It was fun and went perfectly for us with three points and four goals.”
