Eintracht Frankfurt Women kicked off the FLYERALARM Women's Bundesliga season in front of a league record 23,200 fans at Deutsche Bank Park in a hard-fought goalless draw with Bayern Munich.
Chances at both ends
Eintracht goalkeeper Stina Johannes produced a stunning save to thwart Lina Magull in the 48th minute, while at the other end of the pitch Geraldine Reuteler went close for the Eagles in the 78th minute with a long-range drive that Maria Luisa Grohs did well to stop.
Niko Arnautis' charges were the better of the two teams as the final whistle approached and put their opponents under considerable pressure in search of a winner. Ultimately, however, they could not find a way through as a tight game ended 0-0.
Niko Arnautis: "We played fantastically well right from the outset. We were even marginally the better side in my view, but we weren't able to reward ourselves with a winning goal. What we witnessed here today was the best advertisement for women's football. Thank you to the fans. Hopefully a lot of them will come again."
