“We deserved to win”

Three points against Schalke, a dream return for Luka Jovic and a perfect farewell for David Abraham – Eintracht’s players and staff were in very good spirits on Sunday evening.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “We spread the ball around well and found spaces between the lines. Our aim was to play as vertically as possible. The equaliser came against the run of play and was the result of an error in communication. We’ve now won four times in a row in the Bundesliga and have a lot of confidence. It was incredibly important for Luka to return to where he had his best period and feels happy. You can tell that’s been the case from day one. For him to score two such lovely goals speaks volumes about his quality. That sort of thing isn’t always easy to explain.”

Eintracht was my best club. I’d like to thank all the fans and all my clubs for their belief and support. I always gave everything.

Makoto Hasebe: “It wasn’t an easy game. We deserved to win. After their equaliser we found it hard and didn’t have many more chances in the second half. David is a top human being and for 34 he’s also extremely fit. We’ve had a lot of emotional moments together. I’m very sad, but proud that I was able to play alongside him.”

David Abraham: “A long journey has come to an end. I’m happy to finish my career here, where I’ve received a lot and given a lot in return. Eintracht was my best club. I’d like to thank all the fans and all my clubs for their belief and support. I always gave everything.”
