Goals galore in the second tier

Munich - Friday's Bundesliga 2 action delivered a frenzy of goals with no less than 17 registered across the evening's three fixtures. bundesliga.com rounds up the essentials...

Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 F.C. Hansa Rostock

Eintracht Frankfurt finally racked up their first home victory of the campaign with a comfortable 4-1 success against Hansa Rostock.

Armin Veh's charges enjoyed the perfect opening as new signing Mohamadou Idrissou (2') continued his scoring start to life with in the second tier within the first two minutes. The big Cameroonian prodded in among a sea of bodies and the home side managed their lead comfortably for the rest of the half, thanks largely to Hansa's meagre response.

Idrissou nets a brace

Frankfurt again struck early in the second period to consolidate their advantage as Alex Meier (52') diverted his sixth of the season in at the near post from Constant Djakpa's low cross. Four minutes later and it was three, Idrissou (56') grabbing his second of the match with a fine piece of control and an acrobatic finish. Oka Nikolov's spillage at the other end allowed Tobias Jänicke (71') in to reduce the arrears temporarily, but Djakpa (90+3') restored the three-goal advantage at the death.

It might have been four had Benjamin Köhler's not missed a penalty in the75th minute, but that will concern Eintracht little as they move back into the top three on 16 points. Rostock remain in the bottom three, meanwhile, and are still in search of their first season victory.

FC Erzgebirge Aue 2-4 Fortuna Düsseldorf

A rollercoaster of a clash at the Erzgebirgsstadion saw Fortuna Düsseldorf run out 4-2 winners despite seeing their initial two-goal lead cancelled out in the second half by home side Aue.

Norbert Meier's charges took a 14th minute advantage when the stumbling Marc Hensel was tackled by Sascha Rösler on the edge of his own area. The Aue defender's reaction was to trip his marker, resulting in a penalty which Jens Langeneke made no mistake in converting. It didn't take long for the visitors to double their lead, Rösler (22') swerving a fine free-kick through the wall and into the bottom-left corner.

Hosts' joy short-lived

The home side responded well after the restart, pulling one back through Ronny König's (49') first effort on goal four minutes into the second half. The Veilchen then looked to have salvaged a share of the spoils on 71 minutes as Guido Kocer sent an arrowed left-foot strike low into the corner, but a header from Assani Lukimya (84') restored Fortuna's advantage late on before Spanish substitute Juanan (89') sewed things up with almost his first touch of the game.

In-form Düsseldorf move into second spot for the time being thanks to those three points. Aue are now winless since Matchday 1 and duly slip further towards the danger zone.

FC Ingolstadt 04 4-2 SG Dynamo Dresden

There was no lack of goals at the Audi Sportpark either, where hosts Ingolstadt led, trailed and led again to send Dynamo Dresden home empty handed.

Edson Buddle (3') nodded home just three minutes in after Marvin Matip's initial header from a corner had been parried to give Benno Möhlmann's charges a dream start. However a flurry of activity towards the end of the opening period saw Dynamo turn the match through Mickael Pote's (37') first goal for the club and a Zlatko Dedic (42') penalty, only for Buddle (45') to head in his second of the game to send the sides in level at the break.

Ingolstadt power on

Just as they did at the start of the match, Ingolstadt came flying out of the blocks after the restart and following a string of corners, the Bavarians eventually retook the lead on the hour. Andreas Buchner (60') was the scorer, cutting in from the right before releasing a superb left-foot strike which looped past Dieter Eilhoff in the Dresden goal.

There was enough time for former FC Bayern Munich and Inter Milan youngster Christopher Knasmüller (90+2') to add a fine fourth with some impressive control and a clever lofted finish to put the result beyond any doubt. FCI's second win of the campaign moves them into mid-table, while Dresden drop into twelfth.
