“It isn’t easy against Eintracht”

Eagles head coach Adi Hütter assesses his team’s chances of beating Leipzig and shares his thoughts on Eintracht’s run-in.

Adi Hütter on…

…Eintracht’s chances of an away win on Sunday: “Eintracht haven’t been able to win in Leipzig up to now, so it’s definitely not going to be an easy task. We’re highly motivated to end that run, though. We’d be making a statement if we manage to pick up points away from home in a top-of-the-table encounter, but it’s no coincidence that Leipzig are in the running for the title. That said, we’ll do everything we can to win in Leipzig.”

...RB Leipzig: “Leipzig are having the best season in their history and have improved from a footballing perspective. They’ve also conceded the fewest goals in the league and play a lot through the middle. Their system is versatile.”

...personnel: “Aside from Almamy Toure, everyone’s fit and I hope nothing else happens between now and Sunday.”

Against Leipzig, it’s particularly important to make sure we track back properly.

Head coach Adi Hütter

…the Eagles’ system: “We’ve showed in recent games that we’re capable of playing very well with two number 10s, but we’ve got games coming up against very different opposition so we’ll have to alter our system. Against Leipzig, it’s particularly important to make sure we track back properly.”

…Makoto Hasebe’s contract extension: “The decision to extend his contract is great for the club and Makoto. He’s proven in all his years here that he’s a key player. He’s an extraordinary professional. I’m pleased we managed to extend his contract again. He’s experienced, he gives off an unbelievable calmness and is brilliant at reading and dictating the game. Makoto is a natural leader in my eyes.”

…the final straight: “There are still several major hurdles we need to overcome. Apart from Bayern Munich, we’ve still got to play all the top teams in April. We definitely won’t make life easy for them, though. Our rivals have also realised that it isn’t easy against Eintracht.”
