“It was a proper Europa League battle”

Markus Krösche, Oliver Glasner and Kevin Trapp shared their thoughts on Eintracht’s 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce on their European return.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “The penalty was justified. After Kevin Trapp’s save the opponent ran in too early, but we obviously had a bit of luck there. Kevin had pulled off a great save. We need to be a bit more consistent in the final third in our upcoming games. We had some good chances which we failed to take, and we also have to stop making simple mistakes, because it takes a lot of energy to win the ball back. It’s part of an overall process and we’re working on it.”

I have to credit the players for fighting their way back into the game with the help of the fans.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “It was difficult, even for me in the executive box. We really struggled to get into the game and we were nervous. We deserved to concede the opener, but I have to credit the players for fighting their way back into the game with the help of the fans. I’m very happy for Sam [Lammers], who put himself exactly where a striker should be. On the whole, a draw is an OK result for both teams. It was a proper Europa League battle. The fans were fantastic today and spurred us on. I’m happy with the point, but we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”

Kevin Trapp: “I’m so relieved that I saved the penalty and I’m really glad, because otherwise we’d have gone down to a late defeat. At the end of the day it was a fiery game with a fiery atmosphere, and one that we deserved to take a point from.”
