Niko Arnautis’ side were rewarded for a fine performance in Freiburg with a 3-0 triumph. The Eagles dominated right from the beginning and were unlucky when Barbara Dunst struck the bar with a shot in the 38th minute.
Efficient second-half display
Freiburg began the second period strongly but it was Frankfurt who broke the deadlock through Laura Feiersinger (59’). The second goal from Tanja Pawolleks (74’) came in the middle of a period of pressure from the hosts, and then Shekiera Martinez put the game to bed with a third goal in the 87th minute.
Head coach Niko Arnautis: “We settled into the game well from the first second. Full credit for the first-half performance – the only thing that was missing was the opening goal. After the break, we lost our grip briefly but nevertheless, over the 90 minutes we were the better team. We got the goals and deserved to win by such a margin. Overall I’m very happy with all the players today.”
Eintracht Women’s next match is on Wednesday 5 May with their rearranged FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga fixture at home to SGS Essen (kick-off 19:15 CET).
