Farewell to six players

Willems, Brugger, Fahrnberger and Makanda will leave Frankfurt when their contracts expire on 30 June, while on-loan Jovic and Schubert will return to their parent clubs.

Following the last game of the 2020/21 season against SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt bid farewell to six players whose contracts come to an end on 30 June 2021.

That includes Jetro Willems, Yannick Brugger, Lukas Fahrnberger and Jabez Makanda Maleko. The latter trio were all promoted from the Eintracht youth academy to the first-team squad last summer, but did not feature in competitive action. Brugger, a defender, was included in the squad for the first time on Matchday 31 for the away fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.

Two loans ending

Luka Jovic has been a big part of Eintracht’s success in recent years, and in the winter transfer window he returned to Frankfurt on loan, 18 months after his move to Real Madrid. The Serbian forward scored four times in 18 outings, taking his overall tally to 40 goals in 93 appearances for the Eagles. As per his six-month loan agreement, Jovic will return to Madrid at the end of this season.zu den Königlichen zurück.

Markus Schubert will return to Schalke 04.

Markus Schubert is also heading back to his parent club, Schalke, after his loan deal for the 2020/21 campaign draws to a close. The goalkeeper was included in Eintracht’s matchday squad for 30 Bundesliga matches, as well as for one DFB Cup game.
