The Eintracht Frankfurt Esports squad will have a busy start to the year, with Eintracht’s League of Legends team invited by the German embassy to travel to the Japanese capital Tokyo from 3–7 January 2024 to take part in the ‘German Embassy eSports Cup Japan’.
Sixteen League of Legends teams from throughout Japan have been playing preliminary rounds in December, with the aim of vying for the title at the Shibuya eSports Highschool e-Stadium and making it through to the grand final alongside the Eintracht Frankfurt League of Legends team. The eSports Highschool in Shibuya is the first educational establishment anywhere in the world to have eSports as an integral part of its teaching plan.

After winning our first international title in League of Legends last year in Austria, we are now looking forward to facing off against the best Esports players in the world in a country that is the home of the sector.“

Eintracht Frankfurt have been active in Esports since 2018 via EintrachtTech. The journey began with virtual football on a grassroots level, with an Esports version of club membership being introduced in 2019. The club’s comprehensive commitment to Esports was expanded in 2020 with entry into League of Legends (LoL).
