“An important game”

David Abraham’s farewell and Luka Jovic’s return could make Sunday’s meeting with Schalke an emotional affair, but Adi Hütter will settle for nothing less than three points.

Adi Hütter on…

…David Abraham’s final game: “I’ve rarely seen a player with as strong a mentality as David. It’s also impressive that he still has that pace at his age. I’ve got to know him as a very empathetic person.”

…Abraham’s replacement: “We’ve talked about Tuta being his designated replacement for now. We’ll give him the opportunity to develop and we have confidence in the boy. He’s already shown what he can do in one or two games and in training. We also want to show that young players are given the chance to improve at Eintracht.”

…Luka Jovic’s return:  “We did everything to secure Luka’s return. Huge credit to Fredi Bobic and everyone involved for getting him back and ensuring he’s allowed to play. He trained with us today and made a good impression. He’s clearly feeling good.”

If there are no major developments, there’s a chance that Luka will be in the squad on Sunday.

…personnel issues: “If there are no major developments, there’s a chance that Luka will be in the squad on Sunday. We’ve still got a bit of time, though. The same goes for Amin Younes, who took part in the full training session this morning. We’ll do everything to ensure he’s 100 per cent fit.”

…the opposition: “We’ve got no reason to underestimate anyone, particularly as Schalke definitely don’t belong near the bottom of the table in terms of personnel. They recently beat Hoffenheim 4-0, Amine Harit has found his feet again and Sead Kolasinac brings a lot to the table in terms of mentality. Apart from the first 25 minutes Schalke were very good [against Hoffenheim], but we’ll also go into the game with confidence.”

…the role of favourites: “Looking at the table, we can certainly be considered favourites. We’re also unbeaten in nine home games, but every match is incredibly dangerous and every game pans out differently. Schalke will certainly be a different side against us than they were several weeks ago, but we believe in our strengths. It’s an important game that we want to win.”
