“A tricky game”

Oliver Glasner looks ahead excitedly to the restart against Schalke, who he expects to be aggressive opposition.

Oliver Glasner on...

…the restart: “We're delighted that things are finally getting under way again after over two months without a competitive game. The stadium will be full. In Schalke, a big, traditional club are visiting us. I wasn’t too happy with training at the start of the week, but it’s significantly improved in the last two days. The final session was good. I sense great anticipation for things to finally kick off again.”

...the team: "Tuta was back in training for the first time but won’t be in the squad. It’s too short notice and too dangerous for me after one week. Luca Pellegrini has picked up a calf knock and also won’t be available. Marcel Wenig is out too."

...the task: “I don’t expect deep-lying opponents. We’re in for a tricky game. We’re not interested in where they are in the table because we only look at ourselves. We have to find our rhythm and bring our game plan, energy and spirit onto the pitch.”

…opponents Schalke 04: “Simon Terodde is very much Schalke’s target man. We’ve prepared specifically for Schalke and know how they play. They’re a very physical team who attack with pace. They’ll put us under pressure and draw us into challenges.”

I don’t laugh as much in a month as they do in a day.

Coach Oliver Glasner

…the current performance level: “I think we’ll need a few games to get back into shape. We’re not at 100 per cent yet, but the players are welcome to give me a nice surprise. If we play to our potential, we have a good chance of winning the game. I want to improve our performance at all times and see the football that brought us success last year.”

…the mood in the camp: “Our French players in particular are enjoying life. I don’t laugh as much in a month as they do in a day.”
